Advantage Radials

Radial-ply tyres offer a distinct advantage over bias-ply tyres. They may cost more, but they offer better productivity, higher cost savings, and comfort, writes Bhushan Mhapralkar. Earthmoving and construction equipment operate in a different environment from that of an automobile.

Radial tyres can give substantially higher mileage as compared to bias ply tyres.

At Tyresoles, we focus on lowering our customers' tyre costs. We work with our customers to reduce the damage and scrap of these new tyres. The more tyres get retreaded, the lower the cost for the fleet, says Karun Sanghi, Managing Director, Tyresoles. Excerpts of the interview.

Big potential but little growth

The tyre industry is capable of taking all challenges in its stride. However, the industry is asking for a level playing field with its counterparts in China and other countries.

We expect to add another 6-8 retreading plants in the next three years

In India, there is no incentive for retreading. In fact, we are burdened with VAT and service tax, says Karun Sanghi, Managing Director, Tyresoles India. Excerpts from the interview.

Tyresoles' new plant

Tyresoles will start a new plant in Gujarat. 'We have started a new factory in Jabalpur last year and in Hyderabad this year. We also expect to start in Gujarat this year.
